A Magical Dining Night Out

stormy-nightYes, I am on vacation! And to make sure I started that oh so valuable time off on the right note it was off to Orlando for Magical Dining at Urban Tide, inside the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Of course it was just my luck for a fairly nice day to turn into a dark and stormy night but I think it made Urban Tide feel that much more intimate, even for this solo diner.

urban-tide-scallops-2The beauty of Magical Dining is in the details; a carefully constructed special menu with your choice of an appetizer, entrée and dessert. These are all the choice, but for the night I began with the Plantain Crusted Diver Scallop with two large scallops on a bed of incredibly tasty Beet Root Mash with pickled corn and chorizo salsa. The plantain added a nice crunch to the tender scallops and I could have happily enjoyed a side serving of the Beet Root Mash.

swordfishIt’s been some time since I had swordfish and I was not disappointed. My entrée of Florida Atlantic Swordfish was a nice treat for the eyes and the palate. It was firm but flaky with the perfect amount of heat in the seasoning. The Olive oil and green onion crushed potatoes was a nice bed and perfect complement to the swordfish, as was the
Maine lobster bisque that completed the dish. A generous serving with a good blend of textures, but I don’t know that I’d be inclined to share!

Keep in mind all of this for just $33 person for an excellent value, and decadent finish to my meal with Urban Tide’s Intense Chocolate Mousse with a crunchy topping of caramelized macadamia nuts atop a fudgy brownie with a few nicely placed brownie bits. I added a cup of hot Earl Grey tea for the perfect ending.

Think you need more? No problem. At that affordable $33 per person you can try any number of the more than record-setting 90 restaurants participating this year. I talked with Jennifer, one of the supervisors at Urban Tide who’s already checked out a total of three.   visit-orlandos-magical-dining-month-slider-2016-wduv-1You have until October 2nd to indulge. By the way $1 from each meal goes to benefit The Russell Home for Atypical Children.  See all the restaurants and menus right here at magicaldining.com. You can also take advantage of great hotel deals at VisitOrlando.com. Have fun, and count calories another day.
