I truly enjoyed talking to Daniel Shumski about his new book “Will It Skillet.” Why? Because the one item that is not in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen is a cast iron skillet. I used to consider them high maintenance – so very wrong. Oh, and I kind of like things I can toss in the dishwasher. But just few minutes with Daniel changed my mind. Once you find a pan you like and quite often that’s in a thrift store, cleaning it up, seasoning it and then just keeping it clean after each use and you have one handy, almost do-it-all skillet that can be used to make everything from appetizers to desserts. What recipe caught my eye? The giant Chocolate Chip Cookie was a winner! But hear it from Daniel himself, then enter to win the Ann Kelly’s Kitchen Collection with a copy of “Will It Skillet” along with a few other favorites of mine.
And don’t forget to check out my blog as I go into the kitchen at Maestro’s at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts with Chef Edward Steinhoff for a taste of what’s coming up at The Best of Tampa Bay.
