Changes For Coke Zero

  • 6:12 am Friday, July 28th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Why oh why must companies feel they have to mess with success?

But here we go again Coca Cola has announced Coke Zero is about to be phased out over the next few months in favor of…Coca Cola Zero Sugar. It’s been tested over in Great Britain and Latin America. And when I think about it I know quite a few of you who go in search of the regular Coke from Mexico that’s made with real sugar so I get it. But I’ll very honest. I stopped drinking sodas two years ago and to this day, I will still [More]

A Tale Of Two Ice Creams

  • 4:16 am Thursday, July 27th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

One story this morning is a recall for a major ice cream maker – the other a love story.

Traces of a chemical found in some weed killing products was found in ten different flavors of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. Now, the traces are extremely low – as one tester calling them “irrelevant.” But for a company that’s so environmentally aware, it’s an odd find. You can take a look at the full story here in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen.

And yes, love is love is love especially when it comes to a long-lasting marriage and their love of ice cream. [More]

Gordon Ramsay Goes After Pythons

  • 4:34 am Wednesday, July 26th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Gordon Ramsay is a man of many talents and now he can add python hunting to the list…but does it taste like chicken? Ramsay braved the Everglades on the lastest certified python hunt with the South Florida Water Management District. Kyle Penniston and Jason Catarineau were also along and had their first chance to taste python a la Ramsay. I’ll wait for their review.

Chef Ramsay may not be preparing python for you here in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen but we do have a cool prize – how about $600 in gift cards? Oh yes! Click here to enter and [More]

National Hot Fudge Sundae Day

  • 6:46 am Tuesday, July 25th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Finally a legitimate excuse for caloric misbehavior – it’s National Hot Fudge Sundae Day! I can’t remember the last time I had one but perhaps it’s time to change that. Who actually created the day? Apparently you can go back to 1906 for that and an ice cream shop on Hollywood Blvd in LA. The classic of course would be the perfect scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry on top. Now tell me this – who has the best in Tampa Bay? Post a photo – and include directions! #HotFudgeSundaeDay

It’s National Tequila Day

  • 4:48 am Monday, July 24th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Really. On a Monday? But why not after all the rotten weather this weekend. It’s National Tequila Day but let’s wait until after work to grab the salt and lime. Want to show off your immense knowledge of all things Tequila? Here you go! It’s named after the relatively small town of Tequila, just west of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico. It’s made from the blue Agave plant.

Here’s a few places to check out around the Bay area to celebrate. For one of the most impressive selections you can’t beat Red Mesa in St Pete. Enjoy responsibly!

Coffee Recall With A Twist

  • 5:05 am Friday, July 21st, 2017 by Ann Kelly

This one just writes itself. Now, it is a recall and we take those seriously in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen. But when the recall is on coffee that actually has something in it with “Viagra-like results” you tend to pay attention. And come up with some pretty bad lines. But it’s true for this Japanese coffee. No prescription needed.

A big round of applause here for one of Chik-fil-A’s finest who save a customer from choking. Brings up a good question – do you know how to do that? Might be a good time to “bone up” on the Heimlich [More]

Danger – Falling Sausage In Florida

  • 4:56 am Thursday, July 20th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

I’ve found Five Fun Finds this month in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen and we start of with one of those “only in Florida” stories. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…sausage? Yes, somehow 15 pounds of Italian sausage fell out of the sky and right onto a home right here in Florida! But where did it come from – was it on the menu for their backyard barbeque, or is there a more mysterious answer? Nah! Check out the full story here, and keep an eye on the sky.

Italian Times Three

  • 4:23 am Tuesday, July 18th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

Some chefs are celebrity chefs. Some own restaurants, and some even have their own wine. Chef Fabio Viviani is all three and a lot more. Add his new book “Fabio’s 30-Minute Italian: Over 100 Fabulous, Quick and Easy Recipes and that’s Italian!  Of course, when you grown up in Florence, Italy it may come naturally. But take that passion for food and family and pack it into one book? This works, and it’s an easy way to introduce yourself to what you may have been missing in your own cooking repertoire.

He’s one busy guy, but I was lucky enough [More]

Bad Dogs

  • 3:38 pm Sunday, July 16th, 2017 by Ann Kelly

This is a whopper of a recall. Sabret has recalled seven million pounds of their hot does contaminated with what they’re calling extraneous products. We call it pieces of bone and cartilage in those hot dogs with one minor injury to date. Check the full recall notice and get those out out of the house and off the grill. I’ll also bring you back up to speed with some of the other big recalls we’ve had to deal with recently. Summertime and sometimes the dining isn’t easy.
