So many ways to celebrate – so much ice cream to sample! Sunday is National Ice Cream Day and with our heat and humidity it’s more than a necessity to find ways to chill out. So get ready for what wonderful little dribble of melting ice cream down the cone and onto your arm!
Now where to find great deals? Start with McDonalds. You’ll need their app for a free soft serve cone, and there’s even a chance to win free ice cream FOR LIFE. That’s my kind of motivation . Here’s even more deals to help you work on that brain freeze!.Tampa Bay Times Food Critic Laura Reiley had a great article earlier this week on places to check out around the Bay area to celebrate as well. Oh, and I did manage to score a scoop of the latest from Blue Bell Ice Cream and love it. It’s “Sweet and Salty Crunch” and I really shouldn’t be left alone with a container.
My personal favs? The Candied Bacon Maple or Toasted Coconut Ice Cream at Ulele, the occasional necessary indulgence at Strachan’s and when I’m home in Cleveland the Cleveland Metroparks Bark from Honey Hut. There was such a nice article from Cleveland Scene on their heritage that I’d like to share with you. And one of my recent finds and something I just can’t get enough of is Halo Ice Cream. Their bill selling point is you can eat the whole pint without guilt with a low calorie count. Not inexpensive at close to $6 per pint but it’s very good. But this one will just blow you away – Burnt Ends Ice Cream. It’s for real, making its debut today. Dare you.
So yes, I’m a fan of everything from simple vanilla up to the most overloaded mixtures out there. Find you favorite and celebrate on Sunday when calories simply don’t count…I think.
