This is a direct quote from my Facebook friend Tony Zappone regarding the level of excitement surrounding the opening of Goody Goody – “Congratulations to Richard Gonzmart and Michael Kilgore, the men responsible for getting more publicity for the opening of Goody Goody in Hyde Park than NASA received during the first man-on-the-moon landing.” That’s so true. Whatever your definition of comfort food might be there’s a very good chance you’ll find it at one of the newest dining additions at Disney Springs. Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming Restaurant has the Southern touch that makes you want to sit for more than a spell and forget something like calories exist. Anyone checking their Facebook feed yesterday had a great surprise when the announcement of Goody Goody’s grand opening was posted. Tuesday, August 23rd at 7 am, the latest jewel in the Columbia Restaurant Group’s crown opens the doors for breakfast (served all day) and for those iconic Goody Goody Burgers. Owner Richard Gonzmart brings back a taste of Tampa’s past to Hyde Park Village. It’s not hard to find – just look for that original sign on Swann Avenue. What a week in Ann Kelly’s Kitchen! From the sublime to the, well, kind of silly I have a few tasty items to share with you.
First stop was an over-the-top taste of southern cooking at Disney Springs and a morning spent enjoying the down-home hospitality of Art Smith’s Homecoming Kitchen. I’ll have a full story later this week but let me assure you a stop here will make you feel welcome and make your tummy very happy. Melt in your mouth biscuits, fried chicken that is so succulent and a traditional sweet tea will leave you lingering just a [More]
