Just steps away from Busch Gardens and the rest of the world off North 46th St I took a step back in time to the 16th century and a meeting with Queen Catherine Parr at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival. The Festival opens this weekend – February 18th – and will be open weekends through April 2nd. Those weekends have fun themes like Chocolate Fantasy in Piper’s Valley, the Barbarian Brewfest, and since it’s Tampa you have to include our favorite scalawags – Pirates! Their weekend is themed for Pirates and Pets.
There are two important items most people are already acquainted with to have at the Festival. One of those huge turkey legs, and the ability to let out a “huzzah” at a moment’s notice. It’s just plain fun and a nice change of pace from the usual weekend plans. Who wants to cut the grass when you can watch knights joust, or celebrate St Patrick’s Day with Shamrocks and Shenanigan’s weekend on March 18th and 19th?
The food is legendary, the brews are cold and the residents of the Bay Area Renaissance Festival are feisty and a lot of fun. Click here for more info and take that delicious step back in time with me and the Queen.
